NO PRIDE IN GENOCIDE
Calling all sovereign peoples and supporters to gather in Melbourne on Invasion Day 2017.
If 2016 showed us anything, it's that the fight for Aboriginal rights is far from over. From the disgraceful human rights abuses in Don Dale, to the continuing exploitation of Indigenous labour via the Government's Community Development Program, to the ongoing fights against mining operations and nuclear dumps on Aboriginal lands - 2016 will stand as one of the most regressive years in this country's history.
We will not be pacified by bogus corporate-backed plans for Constitutional Recognition that fails to respect and honour our sovereignty. In 2016, Vic Aboriginal communities made this clear to the state government with a call for treaties.
Join us at the steps of Parliament House at 11am to lay flowers in memory of our ancestors and hear speeches. From there, we will march through the CBD.
Anyone wishing to give a speech, conduct ceremony as we move through the city, provide equipment or help organise/marshal, please email invasiondaymelb@outlook.com. Offers of assistance gratefully received. Please bring banners, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander flags, our instruments and so forth.
